Role Overview

The Food Content Writer will be responsible for creating high-quality, original, and engaging content for clients within the food and beverage industry. This role goes beyond simple recipe writing — it includes storytelling that connects food with culture, people, and lifestyle. The writer will craft blog posts, social media content, newsletters, product descriptions, food reviews, and culinary features that elevate brand visibility while informing and entertaining readers.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a flair for creativity, excellent research skills, and an authentic love for food. You should be able to adapt your tone to suit different platforms, whether writing a restaurant blog, a recipe series, or a campaign for a food brand. Since this is a remote position, candidates must be disciplined, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Write compelling blog posts, articles, newsletters, and social media captions tailored to food, beverage, and culinary culture.

  • Recipe Writing & Adaptation: Develop clear, easy-to-follow recipes or adapt existing ones for local and global audiences, ensuring originality.

  • Food Reviews & Storytelling: Produce engaging restaurant reviews, product write-ups, and human-interest food stories that resonate with Nigerian and international readers.

  • SEO Optimization: Apply SEO best practices in food-related content to improve organic reach and drive traffic to client websites.

  • Social Media Collaboration: Work with digital strategists and designers to create content calendars that enhance brand presence on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.

  • Research & Trend Spotting: Stay up-to-date with food trends, cultural movements, nutrition news, and lifestyle shifts in Nigeria’s culinary landscape.

  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their brand voice, target audience, and content goals.

  • Content Editing & Proofreading: Ensure all written materials are grammatically correct, plagiarism-free, and aligned with brand guidelines.

  • Creative Campaign Support: Assist in brainstorming content campaigns such as festive recipe guides, product launches, or influencer collaborations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a content writer, copywriter, food blogger, or journalist (a portfolio or writing samples is highly recommended).

  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives around food and culture.

  • Familiarity with SEO, WordPress, and digital publishing tools.

  • Passion for food, culinary experiences, and storytelling.

  • Ability to adapt tone and style to suit diverse audiences (professional, casual, lifestyle-focused, or brand-driven).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills — must be able to manage multiple assignments remotely.

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Food Science, or a related field is preferred but not compulsory.

  • Photography or food styling skills are an added advantage.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions & Benefits

At Gourmet Creative Agency, we believe in fostering a remote work culture built on creativity, flexibility, and growth. Successful applicants can expect:

  • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in Nigeria with flexible scheduling.

  • Exposure to Top Food Brands: Collaborate with restaurants, catering services, FMCG food companies, and lifestyle brands.

  • Professional Growth: Opportunities to sharpen writing, SEO, and digital storytelling skills through continuous learning.
